Blogging
Saturday, January 26th, 2008I haven’t actually updated this for ages…simply because I forgot!!! I was meant to be doing some strategies for EA yesterday but her computer was up the creek:
‘To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a computer’ Farmers’ Almanac, 1978
It actually made me feel quite bad for not doing much for LexDis. Maybe that’s a reason why participatory research may work… cos it feeds on the guilt of the participants! Especially when you see a stressed, out crazy EA shouting random things at her computer!
When I started to blog, I thought that I would commit to updating it ALL THE TIME. But nooooo. I then thought that blogging was not for me. I never understood the point.
Over Christmas I was getting really stressed out, there was so much to do. Along with my PhD I am also doing other related things and have started up a group called ECSWomen. Its great as I am learning to manage and lead a team of people. However, I was finding that both were difficult to keep up with. But then got into the blogging idea again. Blogging actually allows me to see my ideas develop and how ECSwomen activities are going. I find that if I have more to blog about ECSWomen than my research then there is something seriously wrong!!! It helps me prioritise. It is also great for publicity as well because I have the blog searchable. Have a look: reenyphdblog.blogspot.com
Another thing with blogging, is that you have to want to and there needs to be an underlying reason behind it. So for this LexDis blog, I didn’t understand the point of it and forgot about the blog, which means I didn’t contribute. But now I’ve remembered, I’ll try to update more often. As I can see more and more how its relevant to me.
